Dear Feastlings,

Wine varietals are like fish: They have a host of different names.  Ono and wahoo are the same fish; so are black cod and sablefish, and it runs out that Patagonian toothfish has more of a briskness to its sales when it’s called Chilean seabass.  The wine world is brimming with varietals, but equally brimming with names for them.  This week, we’ll be opening Mourvedre from assorted locations.  Unless it’s Mataro we’re offering.  Or Monastrell.  Whatever it is, when you taste four of them side by side, you’re likely to begin being able to sort out what the grape itself taste like, and how various geographical influences influence what ends up in the bottle.  The tasting is at 2:00 pm this Saturday, October 3, and costs $12.50 plus tax and tip, and you’ll see your usual assortment of Zoom tasting buddies, plus a few people from hither and yon who can speak more specifically about each wine than we can.  Whatever the case, you’ll walk away from it with a palate attuned to the cooler weather that’s gradually creeping in.  Give us a buzz at 326-9363 and we’ll pour you some samples.

You can find the tasting order and price sheet here.

The tasting begins on zoom at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 3, and the meeting number is 818 8495 9435.  the passcode is 251392.
