Dear Feastlings,
We talk about terroir all the time in the wine biz, but there are subtle and not-so-subtle differences in wines from the same neighborhood. Some of it might be soil, some by be winemaking, and once in a while, we talk about elevation. But why? This Saturday, our buddy Lee will join us with two Chardonnays and two Pinot Noirs, from two wineries- all of the wines hail from Monterey County, but Lee will shoot the breeze with you about what effect the elevation of the vineyards has on the wine, and in fairness, some other factors as well.
Regardless, we’ve got quality stuff from two longtime producers of quality stuff, none of which is a bank breaker, and all of which, therefore, is a solid value. And after this tasting, you’ll be able to taste a bit more effectively the difference between high and low fruit in a wine.
