Outliers

Dear Feastlings,

There’s always something inpirational about the ragtag band of misfits who don’t fit in with their contemporaries: they’re undervalued, they’re underestimated, maybe underappreciated- I know we at Feast often feel like a crew of misfits as well, making odd food that only appeals to a small minority- but somehow, the misfits in the end deliver something special that the mainstream can’t offer.  Whether it’s a quirky je ne sais quoi that makes for a special treat, or an exceptional value that the mainstream chooses not to offer because of its perceived monopoly, the misfits are often, in the end, the winners.

And so it is this week- our buddy Megan will be here with four wines that hail from outyling appellations, and while their counterparts may have more notoriety, they have that special something that makes them worthy of your consideration.  There’s nothing wrong with Sancerre, but when you can get Menetou-Salon that drinks quite similarly for half the price, it’s worth lifting an eyebrow and examining your options.

This week’s tasting begins at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1st, and you can reserve your seat at the tasting table with a simple phone call to (520) 326-9363.  Bring $18 plus tax and tip and be ready to taste some wines that treat you every bit as well as their more pedigreed counterparts, but aren’t quite so hard on the wallet.  We hope you’ll join us.
