The delete button.

Dear Feastlings,
As many of these missives as I’ve written, I still don’t have the wherewithal to keep disaster from striking. Yesterday, I wrote a sprawling story, an epic yarn about a guest who found himself suddenly in no condition to drive, and how he was rescued by me and Ruby. Because my past tragic experiences walking away from the computer to check on a seafood order, or a wayward pantry cook, only to return to find the time had run out on my login and the note I was writing had disappeared, I safeguarded it by writing it as an email draft.

Evidently, one wrong keystroke can delete a draft in a nanosecond, even if it’s not the delete button, but I’ll regard the situation as the universe looking out for me in keeping me from sending an email the length of a Russian novel.

I’ll eventually tell the story, but I don’t have time to rewrite it from scratch, so I’ll just dash off again what we have in the works for you and anyone else.

What’s on the calendar at this point is, of course, this week’s wine tasting, an Old World vs. New World matchup that pits Australia against France,

A tale of two hemispheres

followed closely by an appearance at the Taste of Chocolate,

a day back here at Feast for Dine Out for Safety,

Dine Out for Safety

and the benefit dinner we’re doing for Flowers and Bullets:

Then it’s Easter and we’ll open up with a menu of specials in addition to our regular menu

Some special dishes for Easter

and with any luck, we’ll all get to sleep in and recover on the 21st.

There’ll be new overly lengthy emails to come, though almost certainly not until we’ve made it through Easter, and there’ll be tasty foods and wines to enjoy, but no matter what, we’ll be grateful for your kind patronage and support. Thank you for that, more than ever.

Love,

Doug and everybody else at Feast
