Even better than quitting time
My grandmother was an English teacher, so a little pinch happens in my brain when I see people misuse quotation marks or apostrophes. Such a pinch occurred the other day when I saw this sign. Never mind the “Winter Hours” heading in July. It’s winter somewhere, after all. The part that made me wince was the phrase, “Quiting Time.” The other part that made me wince was that I took the picture at about 2:00 and I was the only person there. Quiting Time, 3:30, indeed.
