Think Pink

Sunday, July 25th, we’ll host our customary Last Sunday wine tasting.  The six wines this month are all pink- perfect Threatening Monsoon Season wine, as they cut through the hot, thick, muggy air with rapier-like freshness.  The time?  Our customary 3:30 tasting.  The cost?  Our customary $25.  The food?  Our customary six wine-paired snacks.  If you’d like to join us, please call 326-9363 and we’ll hold a spot for you.

NV Jansz Premium Sparkling Rosé, Tasmania

Jansz Premium NV Rosé is vibrant delicate pink in color with a fine persistent bead. The nose offers lifted notes of Turkish delight and delicate rose petal florals, with fresh cream and nougat. This wine is rich with the creaminess of the mousse while the Pinot contributes strawberry notes that fill the palate. The fruit flavors give length to the wine and fresh natural acid provides balance and a refreshing finish.

2007 Yalumba Rosé of Sangiovese, South Australia

With aromas of fresh raspberries, lilac and rhubarb, this wine is a perfect accompaniment to many foods and situations. The nature of the Sangiovese grape also gives the wine a finely textured finish.

2009 Crios Rosé of Malbec by Susana Balbo, Mendoza

A beautiful, deep, vibrant rosé color. Has a surprising amount of body for a rosé wine, and beautiful aromas of fresh, ripe wild strawberries. On the palate, the flavors of strawberries and young cherries come rushing in, accompanied by some spice notes and a clean, dry finish.

2009 Lea Tierra Alta Vineyard Syrah Rosé by Tensley, Central Coast

Jennifer makes her rosé from a single vineyard and a single clone, in this case the Tablas 99 clone from Tierra Alta vineyard. Jennifer and her six-year-old son Oliver crushed the grapes for this Rosé with their feet (their very clean feet). The resulting wine is rich in color with a silky, rounded mouthfeel and a crisp, refreshing finish. Look for notes of rose petals, strawberries, and guava complemented by hints of earth and minerality.

2008 E. Guigal Côtes-du-Rhône Rosé. Côtes-du-Rhône

Fresh with an expressive nose of red fruits and citrus, with notes of raspberry and red currant. Fruity and lean on the palate, but dry and round on the finish.

2008 Dare Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon by Viader, Napa

Dare’s 2008 Dry Rosé exhibits strong aromas of ripe Bing cherry, cassis liqueur, raspberry, and with hints of rose, wisteria and violet on the finish. The crisp acidity refreshes and invites another taste.
