Dear Feastlings,
If you can think back to another time, one where restaurants and theaters are open, and people go out and do things, you may recall a time at which we offered wine tastings on the last Sunday of the month. They were special- different from our regular wine tastings in that a) we poured wines that were a little bit fancier; and b) we served little amuses-bouches alongside the wines, paired with some deliberation and care. We hung this up, along with our lives, in March, but we had already been planning such a tasting with our good friend Dario Soldan. The wines were from one of our favorite wineries, not just in Montepulciano, but anywhere. After a relatively smooth fundraiser for the Primavera Foundation last month, we discovered that, if we combined a little ingenuity and a little elbow grease, we could serve both food and wine to the guests who were willing to fire up their ovens for a bit at home, so this Sunday, August 9, we’re going to give it another go. The tasting is $35, with four wines and snacks rather than six, but still with the intention of stepping it up a bit. And what’s more, Dario is bringing his pal, Giuseppe Santarelli, Avignonesi’s export manager, who’ll be there to share stories and answer questions.
And, even more: since we’re only offering four wines rather than the customary six, we thought it only right that we double down and give you twice the pour. That way, you should be able to taste before, during, and after the food part.
Since we’re preparing food based on the number of you who call to order, please help us by ordering by Thursday, August 6 at 7:30 pm, so we know how much to prepare.
The zoom meeting number is 820 4269 4872 and the passcode is 374005.
The tasting begins on Sunday, August 9, at 3:30 pm, and you’ll have a tiny bit of warming up to do, but no serious cooking. We also have food pairings and heating instructions here, as well as a pricing sheet and tasting order.
