We’ve all been there- the wine list like a phone book, the snooty sommelier, the hodgepodge of foreign-sounding words, rife with accents and letters we’d never put next to each other.
“I guess we’ll have the Cabernet,” we say, because at least we can pronounce that, and the somm returns with something passable, but which we’d never have ordered had we gotten past the nerves induced by the unfamiliar. What’s a Côt? What’s a Verdicchio? This week, with the tasting falling on Halloween, we thought it only appropriate to taste some wines we might be scared to order.
