Dear Feastlings,
We serve no small amount of wine at Feast, and while we wouldn’t put anything on the wine list that we don’t think is a good value, and while we understand people’s predilections for one varietal or another, we do occasionally hit a wall. We’ll trot out this wine or that one that we think would make a perfect pairing, only to have our hopes dashed. “We’ll try that Zinfandel,” they’ll say, or “just bring us a buttery Chardonnay.” And while the Zinfandel and Chardonnay are wines we stand behind, even wines we’re fond of, we walk back to the cellar with our heads hung like Charlie Brown when we have to restock that Muscadet for the fiftieth time, or put the Merlot away that would have been the perfect wine with everything ordered at the table.
This month’s Last Sunday tasting is all about the wines we know that people would love, if they’d only give them a chance. Some are wines with which people are simply unfamiliar- they don’t know what Arinto is, so they pick a Viognier or a Chardonnay instead. Some are wines that people have been told they shouldn’t like so many times that it’s become a reflex: “oh, I don’t drink Merlot.” Whatever the case, these four wines that don’t get ordered at Feast? Turns out they’re delicious, so we’re having this tasting.
Despite our previous hopes, this will be another all-virtual tasting, and if you call us at (520) 326-9363, we’ll set aside samples and snacks for you to pick up, and we’ll all meet on the screen at 3:30 pm. The tasting is $35 plus tax and tip for the Sunday pours and their food pairings, and we’d love to include you.
The tasting begins on zoom at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 27. The Zoom meeting number for the tasting is 853 7511 5158, and the passcode is 808443.
