Tasting upside down

Dear Feastlings,

Far on the other side of the planet, things are upside down, or at least they are relative to us.  Toilets flush counterclockwise, people drink flat whites, and there are more poisonous creatures that we can conceive of.  Their grapes are harvested in what we would regard as springtime, but their April showers bring wet turning leaves.

We’ve long had a fairly predictable style of Aussie wine that came to the US- the super-extracted Shiraz from down under became an expectation on every wine list, from entry level factory-farmed stuff piled high in case stacks at the grocery store to prestigious wines like Grange, and Amon-Ra and Mollydooker, but there’s been a quiet yet steady change occurring in the Antipodes- unexpected Italian varietals, a slow and steady increase in white wine production, and wines with perhaps a little less boxing glove and a little more kid glove.

Curious to taste this broader spectrum of Australian winemaking?  You can join us and our friend Rob this Saturday, September 7, at 2:00 pm.  Set aside $18 plus tax and tip, and hold your seat at the table by reserving it at (520) 326-9363.  Then show up Saturday and Bob’s your uncle.
