One head plus three legs equals deliciousness

Dear Feastlings,

It had never occurred to me to question the emblem of the region of Sicily.  Sure, the head of Medusa with a tiny pair of wings, three legs and three stalks of wheat seems reasonable as a symbol of the island neatly seated at the toe of Italy’s boot shape, but evidently, it hearkens back to Sicily’s origin story and other mythology as well.  The story goes that three nymphs danced around the entirety of the world gathering the very best fruit, stones and soil, and dropped it all into the sea to create Sicily, whose emblem’s three bent legs symbolize the three corners of the island, which are evidently meant to represent the feet of the three nymphs.

Whether it makes sense to you or not, fruit, stones and soil sound an awful lot like the makings of a vineyard to me, and our pal Emilie will be here this Saturday, February 15th, at 2:00 pm, ready to pour you tastes of what the island has to offer.  If you’re interested in joining us, I’d recommend making a reservation by calling (520) 326-9363 and sharing your name and number with us.  Then simply show up at Feast on the 15th at 2:00, ready to taste some delicious wines to pair with seafood and an island lifestyle.
