Unearthing what I buried last week

Dearest Feastlings,
When I was in high school, our English teacher gave us a test to take that started with “Read all the instructions before beginning,” and proceeded to suggest that we write our names in the upper right hand corner, that we circle our first name and underline our last, that we draw a picture of something or other, draw polka dots on it, and so on and so forth. There were like twenty things to do on the test, and we were all frantically trying to execute them in the paltry time allotted, only to discover that the very last instruction was to ignore all the instructions but the first two. We felt like a bunch of lunkheads.
Last week, I unintentionally did something similar and discovered how many of you read these emails all the way to the bitter end. In fact, I’m sure I’ve lost some of you by this point already. But I waited until the very last portion of the email to announce that we’re putting out our annual call for requests. There were a number of you that made your requests- some who made more than one. In fact, some who made significantly more than one. And while I won’t guarantee to them that we’ll fit in their every last request, the early bird does indeed get the proverbial worm.
For those of you who are new to the email list, or to Feast, or to Tucson, or to any combination thereof, here’s the deal:
our summertime gimmick is to offer a weekly rotating menu of dishes requested by our guests. Some might be dishes we’ve made a thousand times before; some might be something you had at a party we catered; some might even be a classic dish you’d like to see us interpret or something you’ve long thought we SHOULD make. Whatever the case, if you reply to this email with a request, we’ll put it in the hopper and then, each week during our June, July and August menus, we’ll offer a handful of the dishes you’ve requested. It’s a hoot. Just reply to this email with your hopes and dreams and we’ll do our level best to integrate them into one of the thirteen menus we serve this summer.
Meanwhile, I’ll also mention the wine tasting this Saturday, although I’m now fairly certain that only a small percentage of you will have read this far. It turns out we’re tasting Sauvignon Blancs this week. Want to join us? Want to know more about it? Here’s a link.

We look forward to seeing you soon, whether it’s for the tasting or for you to come enjoy the dish you’ve requested this summer. Of for whatever other reason you come up with.
Love,
Doug, but really everyone at Feast
