Dear Feastlings,
I’m acutely aware that the emails I send are largely a combination of grousing and whingeing, grumbling and bellyaching. Today, I offer you a calculated decision to express gratitude. Yow. For the first time since the pandemic, the Gem and Mineral Show appears to have reached critical mass, at least from the perspective of a midtown restaurant.
What’s more, people are starting to go out for lunch again, something we’ve not experienced much of for some time now. And, doggone it, I couldn’t be more grateful. People are making their way back to Tucson, eating and drinking when they do, and this despite the fact that prices continue to rise.
“Lucky me, lucky mud,” say the adherents of Kurt Vonnegut’s Bokononism, and so say I as well.
We’ve brought in all manner of treats, and even though a good number of our ingredients didn’t arrive today, I’m pleased that we do have what we do have to offer on this first Tuesday of February. The new menu is up and running, and will run even better later this week when our baby bok choi mei arrives, and our sea beans, and lobsters and trout. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of alternatives in place, so you can feel confident in joining us, though I should note that with the Gem Show in full swing, restaurants are also in full swing, so a reservation is an excellent plan.
It also never hurts to have a glance at the menu, and the February menu having just begun today, I post this link for you here:

The food’s good, the wine is plentiful and affordable, and we’d love to see you, especially if we already know you’re coming to join us.
Thanks, everyone.
Love,
Doug
